World Wide Vegan Bake Sale

I am planning on participating in the world wide vegan bakesale this year. I think it will be a great way to get more vegan treats to people, raise money for the shelter that I end up working with and let people know what Bittersweet Boulangerie has to offer. I am very excited about this and bake sales are an amazing way to get vegan dessert in the hands of a lot of people.

Redesigned with baking in mind.

I have officially chosen to rename and remodel this blog and showcase my baking/culinary adventures. It will act as the face of Bittersweet Boulangerie (company name) until there is a website up and running. I can't wait to reach a whole new audience and show you guys all the things I am working on. If you take a look back at my first cake post (chocolate mocha cupcakes) you see the lack of aesthetic execution. I love the journey I have taken to get to the point where my desserts look the part. As always the dessert are 100% vegan and made by me. I think this is a huge step forward and I thank all my viewers in advance.

It's been a a while. Vegan cupcake-ing. Happy New yr

Its been a while since I've posted things about baking on here. I've come an extremely long way over the course of 2011. I look at those first Chocolate Mocha cupcke pictures in utter shame LOL. I didn't want to start posting baking stuff for fear it would take over my entire blog but, I realize it IS what I'm doing with my life so what the heck. I'll queue posts to make my presence more regular :).
I recently did a wedding and while insanely stressful. I'd do it again, I appreciate the bride and groom for allowing my to be part of their day and for them to virtually be my guinea pigs :)
Another reason I will be cupcaking on here 100x more often is because I have business card with this site on it. Some how if I blog more I'd be more likely to hand out cards but unlike other social media sites this blog isn't highly interactive...and I like to feel listened to.
I'm still a vegan....very much so lol and I continue to delve deeper into veganism converting people one by one(...through cake of course).
And it's new yrs eve so I hope 2011 treated you well and 2012 is even better
here's some cupcake-age for your viewing pleasure (all vegan and I mde them all ...pow ENJOY):

More work= less blogging

It's sad how much I've neglected this blog, especially when I'm working and have so much more to blog about. I've gotta find a balance between working, sleep, and blogging lol. I'll use my days off to update and keep this blog exciting. There will definitely be more cooking/ baking posts. More pictures and possibly some videos and giveaways. Those are exciting.

Green Vegetarian Cuisine!

I mentioned that I have a job now, so I think it's fitting to talk about it a little bit. I heard about the restaurant when I had recently quit meat. Some how I never got around to going there (it's actually about a 25 min drive from my house). One day my day says we're gonna have a father/daughter day and he surprised me by taking me there. I was too besides myself! I wanted to go there for SOO LONG.
The food was incredible we had the sampler(HUGE crispy onion rings, buffalo fingers and steak fries)I had the eggplant parmesean, and my dad had the mushroom stroganoff (changed my life it's sooo good). Then for dessert I had and oreo cupcake and my dad had a chocolate coconut cookie. We we're served by Katie and chatted up a server named Jessica FOREVER :) (*ALL desserts are vegan at Green.)
Fast Forward a few weeks and I'm volunteering at a shelter with my group from psychology class(doing moms and daughters mani-pedis and make-up). We decided that we'd do lunch after. Turns out Green was only 10 minutes away! The girls decided to give in to me and have some vegetarian/vegan food. We ordered the sampler and took FOREVER to order our entrees(we couldn't choose!!). A midst conversation with our server Brenda, the three girls mentioned that I'm a Vegan baker, and somehow my business card got from my purse, to her hands to the owner. We finally order and as we're stuffing our faces,

Menu->
Below:Left to right Katherine, Rebecca, Celeste.

 Sampler: DEVOURED

Sesame Chicken

Garden Salad

Kale Salad (omg yum)

Portabella Burger

 Chicken Fried Steak
Neatballs

(Katherine had the Mushroom Stroganoff, I had the Sesame Chicken, Celeste had the Portabella Mushroom burger and Rebecca had the Chicken Fried Steak) one of the owners, Chris Behren , comes over to us with Neatballs asking "who's the vegan baker?". We talked and at the end of the conversation he tells me to bring some samples next time I come. We stuffed ourselves then ordered one cupcake each. As we were leaving I got to meet Cece (baker at green, Jacque is another baker I met later).
Just one week later I was back with cupcake samples. Katherine and I decided to have lunch there as well. She ordered an appetizer of onion rings and had Spaghetti and Neatballs. I had fried mushrooms and Neatloaf. For dessert I had a double chocolate cookie and Katherine had a Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake.

Cupcakes I made->
Left to right Raspberry Lemonade, Pralines and Cream, Chocolate Mocha.

 NeatLoaf mashed potatoes and greens.
  Spaghetti and Neatballs
 Fried Mushrooms

Above: Double Chocolate Chunk cookie.
Left: Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake.

While I was there I applied for a job, I said what the heck. Chris told me to come in on Sunday at 10am to train and see if i liked it. I loved it. Now I'm a server and baker there!

If anyone is ever in San Antonio, Texas PLEASE come check out Green Vegetarian Cuisine :)

I'm BAAAAAAACCCCCKK

I have my computer back and I will be blogging like CRAZY .... it's been like two months.
I turned 19 on the nineteenth, which was cool. I'm not big on my own birthday if you couldn't tell.
I've been baking like crazy.... which is AWESOME. I have a ton of pictures to post.
I got a job at this vegetarian restaurant as a server and baker. AWESOME x 1,000,000

Dreams and Cream Guest Blogging

One of my dearest friends Tameeca D. runs a blog called Dreams and Cream on tumblr. I swear she leaves no topic unturned on there. She wanted some writers and I offered to write about some things she doesn't cover.

A few days ago my first guest blog was featured on Dreams and Cream. I talked about cooking for your own self. I honestly think that kids growing up in and AFTER my age group (18-25) are completely uninterested in cooking for themselves. Some are completely dependent on Mommy and Mcdonald's to feed them.... That cannot POSSIBLY be life.
There is something so personal and pleasurable about preparing a dish for yourself ....and others. (get a load of that alliteration WOO!)
Read my guest post here.
There will be more to come of me on Dreams and Cream
I hope you guys enjoy and please please PLEASE check out the rest of Tameeca's blog.

[Insert C H U C K L E here]

I look at certain aspects of my life ...and I'd like to think God must have a sense of humor. Not the crass Richard Pryor, Lisa Lampanelli, Eddie Murphy, Chelsea Handler humor but perhaps a Dane Cook, Steve Carell, Aziz Ansari,Ricky Gervais type of funny. Don't analyze my reasoning...just go with it. Either way I'm learning to accept the changes going on in my life... I'm aware they will make me stronger....I'll try to laugh the whole time that's for sure.

.I n s p i r e d.

I get inspired and excited for my blog when I follow the blogs of like minded people. I feed off of positive, creative energy. I'll be following a new wave of interesting bloggers and turning to some of the most creative people I know MY FRIENDS. I think I have too many ideas running through my head at once...and I want to express them perfectly.

In OTHER news, for any of you who have been to this site before...you can see that it's gotten a bit of a face lift (ok liposuction, collagen injections, butt implants and a full body lift). With the help of one of my FAVORITE Vegan bloggers Melanie over at The Streets I Know, I revamped Isadorenoir ....Melanie calls it #cleanandreadable. She's an awesome Vegan fashion blogger/graphic designer/perfectionist lol. I really appreciated her input on the design. So PLEASE go visit The Streets I Know

p.s. I won one of Melanie's giveaways a few months ago....I am pathetic for not blogging about the STUNNING earrings I won from Melanie Cronyn Designs (Im taking the long way).

Ramblings: I might be boring

I've been feeling blah and boring..boring and blah. I don't know what to blog about. I hate the thought of even directing people towards my blog when there are no new posts. Hypothetically if I had ...consistent readers, I could simply ask "what do you want to see" ....but until then lol

Ramblings: Death of Osama

Last night it was announced that Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was assassinated (he doesn't deserve the word assassinated). In all honesty as I watched the news channels report his death ...I felt neither happy nor sad. With every fiber of my being, I wished to feel the sense of justice that 9/11 victims and their families feel. I want to rejoice. I want to climb up on a light pole and chant U S A! and sing every song dedicated to the U.S. at the top of my lungs but instead I feel an overwhelming sense of ...NOTHINGNESS (and I can't even FAKE otherwise)....I feel like a poor excuse for a citizen.
Maybe it's out of fear that this is only the beginning. Perhaps in the back of my mind I feel like terrorism isn't over and people will always want to plot harm against the greatest nation on Earth.
Let's see if sleeping will invoke some feeling about it.

Love= PAIN ...REALLY?

Since when do you have to be in PAIN to experience LOVE? That's so counterproductive in my opinion.
Does someone have to cheat on you or mentally/physically and emotionally abuse you to show they love you?

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I don't see pain in there ANYWHERE.

I will not settle for a world of pain for a only little love.

Baggage full of shades...

I LOVE sunglasses. I needed some ... so I headed over to Bleu Dame  Their website is AMAZING. They have the cutest accessories, from Vintage sunglasses and clear glasses to jewelry and Eco-friendly bags (Envirosax).
Bleu Dame features a $5 sunglasses section that always has great stuff. They had two pairs of great glasses priced at $18.80 ...in the FIVE dollar section. So I notified the company and GUESS WHAT they honored the $5 price!! *Does Happy Dance*

Here they are:
 2465

 2470

2470 was supposed to be in Black but they were out of stock.
Bleu Dame is AWESOME, so head over to their site and get to shopping. There is something for everyone (even boys).
I purchased these items with my own money and I do not represent Bleu Dame in any way.

Perfect song for this post

Mercy for Animals DVD 12min Documentary

Last week my free copy of Farm to Fridge came in the mail...I popped it in my laptop, pressed play and relaxed as James Cromwell's voice filled my ears and factory farmed animals spread across the screen.
I thought to myself "I've seen this all before...I'm a VEGAN for Christ's sake." I sat, I watched, I cried. Before I knew it I could no longer see clearly the cows being beaten then slaughtered. I was DISTRAUGHT. I couldn't believe how emotional I got.
To be honest, it had been a long time since I watched a video like this. One can get so caught up in the everyday routine, and forget WHY the the choice of veganism was made. After it was done I thought "omg that's it I want to go vegan!!!" but I already am.

I'm reminded of why I made the choice to be Vegan for LIFE. I think I needed that reality check.

E.L.F Summer Ready Collection

Price: 4.99
Available at: Target stores and Eyeslipsface.com

From left to right:
1.Blue Mist
2.Lilac
3.Fuchsia
4.Mango Madness
5.Purple Pleaser

Warmer weather is here so I'm switching up the polish (I'm addicted to taupe and grey polishes). These aren't NEW colors, although I have never heard of Blue Mist, I thought it was their Mint Creme until I opened the package. My favorite are the Lilac (which I had for a while. I gave my mom the one that came with this pack) and the Fuchsia. I like the Blue Mist but it needed THREE coats -___-. The Purple Pleaser is a bit dark for my liking but I'll find a way to maneuver it into my nail polish collection. As for the Mango Madness I wish it were more opaque and creamy but it's a very pretty color. I'll be swatching soon!! :)

Lady 'Yankin'

I have no words for the atrocity that I am about to share with you. Okay, I'm lying. I have A LOT of words for it. I stumbled across it on twitter. I'm sharing this obviously not because I condone it, but because it must be understood that this piece of media is an embarrassment that steps on the progress of women's rights and racial equality ...yes I went THAT far. It's how I feel. I thought for a while about if I would even blog about it much less put the distasteful piece of crap on my blog....but I digress.

Below is a the music video for 'Yankin' by a rapper named Lady.

Where do I begin?
My initial reaction: I sat at my computer and stifled an outrageous, gut wrenching, mind numbing fit of laughter. I couldn't believe it was a legitimate attempt at music.

After I had slept on it, I thought to myself...Why did I laugh?

1. Yankin?.... Where on EARTH did that slang term come from? Granted, she is from Georgia, I am from NYC. I am fully aware of the differences in jargon and vernacular but this was incompetent at best.
2. The lyrical content is that of an illiterate, oversexed, Fifteen year old 3rd grader, from the deepest slums of the earth.
3. The failed attempt at class and wealth.
4. Her name is LADY. I don't know about you, but to me this video doesn't scream 'lady like'
5. She wasn't joking
.

What pains me is that she's actually a beautiful black woman and this has reduced her to body parts and illiteracy.
How is it possible that you can expect anyone ..much less a MAN to respect you, if you can't respect/ properly represent yourself or your fellow WOMAN. She has next to naked women dancing around in thongs to a song that is basically about drunken sex, and her vagina.

I feel as if she has taken all that Women and African American people have fought for...and wiped her ass with it.
-Simply Disappointed

I welcome and encourage comments :)
