Dreams and Cream Guest Blogging

          One of my dearest friends Tameeca D. runs a blog called Dreams and Cream on tumblr. I swear she leaves no topic unturned on there. She wanted some writers and I offered to write about some things she doesn't cover.

       

          A few days ago my first guest blog was featured on Dreams and Cream. I talked about cooking for your own self. I honestly think that kids growing up in and AFTER my age group (18-25) are completely uninterested in cooking for themselves. Some are completely dependent on Mommy and Mcdonald's to feed them.... That cannot POSSIBLY be life.
          There is something so personal and pleasurable about preparing a dish for yourself ....and others. (get a load of that alliteration WOO!)

Mercy for Animals DVD 12min Documentary

Last week my free copy of Farm to Fridge came in the mail...I popped it in my laptop, pressed play and relaxed as James Cromwell's voice filled my ears and factory farmed animals spread across the screen.
I thought to myself "I've seen this all before...I'm a VEGAN for Christ's sake." I sat, I watched, I cried. Before I knew it I could no longer see clearly the cows being beaten then slaughtered. I was DISTRAUGHT. I couldn't believe how emotional I got.
To be honest, it had been a long time since I watched a video like this. One can get so caught up in the everyday routine, and forget WHY the the choice of veganism was made. After it was done I thought "omg that's it I want to go vegan!!!" but I already am.

I'm reminded of why I made the choice to be Vegan for LIFE. I think I needed that reality check.

Lady 'Yankin'

I have no words for the atrocity that I am about to share with you. Okay, I'm lying. I have A LOT of words for it. I stumbled across it on twitter. I'm sharing this obviously not because I condone it, but because it must be understood that this piece of media is an embarrassment that steps on the progress of women's rights and racial equality ...yes I went THAT far. It's how I feel. I thought for a while about if I would even blog about it much less put the distasteful piece of crap on my blog....but I digress.

Where do I begin?
My initial reaction: I sat at my computer and stifled an outrageous, gut wrenching, mind numbing fit of laughter. I couldn't believe it was a legitimate attempt at music.


After I had slept on it, I thought to myself...Why did I laugh?


1. Yankin?.... Where on EARTH did that slang term come from? Granted, she is from Georgia, I am from NYC. I am fully aware of the differences in jargon and vernacular but this was incompetent at best.
2. The lyrical content is that of an illiterate, oversexed, Fifteen year old 3rd grader, from the deepest slums of the earth.
3. The failed attempt at class and wealth.
4. Her name is LADY. I don't know about you, but to me this video doesn't scream 'lady like'
5. She wasn't joking.


What pains me is that she's actually a beautiful black woman and this has reduced her to body parts and illiteracy.
How is it possible that you can expect anyone ..much less a MAN to respect you, if you can't respect/ properly represent yourself or your fellow WOMAN. She has next to naked women dancing around in thongs to a song that is basically about drunken sex, and her vagina.


I feel as if she has taken all that Women and African American people have fought for...and wiped her ass with it.

If I could take it all back I would, but I can't. They say it's no good to live life with regret...All I wish is that everyone would forget, the mistakes I've made but of course that one in particular...You. I've learned my lessons but I'm sure to go way far ...but after all, I'd rather be me than perfect...on some days. :)

Devastation in Haiti

I want to be informed about the TRAGIC events going on in Haiti. But I get sick to my stomach every time I turn on CNN. It’s so graphic and heartbreaking. Please keep the country of Haiti in your thoughts and prayers. Please donate to your favorite reputable organization. You don’t have to donate your life savings but even a donation of your time is greatly appreciated. Just because there is no longer 24/7 coverage doesn’t mean that conditions aren’t dire. Haiti will need help in the months and years to come.

It's 2010!!! This is the beginning of forever for all that is Isadore Noir... This year WILL BE GREAT. I've got my mind right.
As of right now I'm working on a fashion show for a friend of mine. Her company is called Msquared and she's amazing... A year of beauty fashion and friends await :)

Ugh this week school starts back so hopefully I can make so legitimate time to work on this blog :)

Long time no see!

Hello there darlings!!
I hope your Christmas was great! I have been M.I.A. it's true, but I've missed blogging so much.
I was in a FUNK right before and around Christmas because I went to the DOCTOR <-(UGH) and got some UGLY news *rolls eyes*. But I'm back and I'll get busy making up for lost time!

Hey young world!!

It is no longer common place to pass off 'immature' clothing items to teens and young adults. Why??? because we are on the cutting edge of fashion these days. More often than not young people ages 15-25 are sporting straight from the runway looks. We're throwing around names like Dior, Louboutin, Chanel, Gaultier, and Marc Jacobs. We're studying the fashion world and bringing it to life on the streets. We're designers by the time we're 17-18. Our try anything attitude is perfect for the extreme fashion world.
So to all my creative people out there do not at all be afraid to show these old dolls how it's done, Eventually they'll get tired of outdated fashion for the sake of 'looking like a harlot' or 'looking like a child' because when their stuck in a rut and want their style revamped...it's us young ones they'll turn to.

She's Finally here!!!

After a LOOONGG debacle with my scanner I was finally able to get the picture of 'Isadore Noir' onto my computer :) There she is behind the title. I hope she's all you thought she would be...My dear friend, Erika G. managed to capture everything that was going on in my head as far as Isadore is concerned. I think she did an amazing job of making her race-less because I feel she appeals to every woman with class!

P.s. Don't you just LOVE Isadore's LEGS :)

Ladies and ESPECIALLY Gentlemen,

The above picture is NOT under any circumstance acceptable in civilized society. If you are currently in jail and have no choice, then SAG ON.
I don't care what part of the country you live in/are from, sagging jeans are NOT acceptable!! That PENITENTIARY SWAG is NOT it.
Think of it like this sagging jeans=easy access.

Take that with you when you're buying your jeans five sizes too large or shimmying them down, MR.THUG LIFE. And ladies don't allow your man to dress like this and don't settle by getting with a man that dresses like this.

I'll be back with some Spring 2010 men's looks that are sensible versions of how guys today should carry themselves!!

Late night ramblings

Hey! :) Iknow it's LATE- OR EARLY RATHER
Hope you guys had an amazing Thanksgiving! Im sure it was filled with lots of family and FOOD. I had gotten dressed up to cook but I never took pictures OOOPS!! Maybe I could recreate the look and take pictures.

On another note:
I've been working extremely hard on this blog drafting up ideas! It's my baby right now :) and I feel like it should really be an extension of myself. I have high hopes for it and I can't wait for the roller coaster to FINALLY start!

On a Fashion note:
It's black Friday!! go get your shop on...as far as I'm concerned the winter season has long begun and my opaque tights are in FULL SWING! (Although I want more pairs) I'm also on a hunt for the perfect platform heels ie. Steve Madden's (faux)Patent Leather Platform 'Socialit'
